Discover the true meaning of Christmas with our message series, Unwrapping Christmas. Together, we’ll explore the deeper gifts of the season—hope, love, peace, and joy—found in the birth of Jesus. Join us as we reflect on these timeless truths and how they can transform our lives this Christmas and beyond.
Welcome to today’s online worship service, "The Gift of Peace." In a world filled with uncertainty and anxiety, we are reminded of Jesus’ words in John 14:27:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid."
This peace is not a fleeting feeling or the absence of trouble but a deep, abiding assurance that comes from Christ Himself. It is a gift to steady us amidst life’s storms and draw us closer to the heart of God.
Take a moment to reflect on areas of your life where you feel restless, anxious, or uncertain. As you pray, ask God to replace those burdens with His perfect peace. Here’s a simple prompt to guide your prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I thank You for the gift of Your peace that surpasses all understanding. I lay before You my fears, worries, and doubts. Help me to trust You completely and to rest in Your presence. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind today and always. Amen."
Take a moment to read this passage and journal your thoughts: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Reflective Questions:
What anxieties or burdens are you holding onto today that you need to release to God in prayer?
How can cultivating gratitude in your prayers help you experience the peace that transcends all understanding?
As we transition into a time of Message and Music, let us open our hearts to receive God’s truth and be uplifted by His presence. To complement this message, we reflect through worship with songs like I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Casting Crowns and Glory by Matt Maher
The song, "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" by Casting Crowns, reminds us of the hope and peace that Christ brings, even in the midst of life's challenges. Inspired by the timeless words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, it speaks of the struggle between despair and faith. As the bells ring out their message of "peace on earth, goodwill to men," we're reminded that God’s promises remain true, and His peace is unshakable.
Pastor Chris walks us through the Gift of Peace from the words of Jesus: John 14:27. He reminds us that Jesus wants to give us His peace that the world will never understand. Pastor Chris will share 3 ways we can have Peace in our daily life.
Our next song, "Glory (Let There Be Peace)" by Matt Maher, is a beautiful call to embrace the peace that Christ offers to the world. With its uplifting message, the song echoes the angels' proclamation on the night of Jesus' birth: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace." It invites us to become instruments of that peace, letting it begin within our hearts and flow outward to transform our relationships and communities.
As you go forth today, take hold of this peace that Jesus offers—a peace not dependent on circumstances but rooted in His presence. Share this gift with others by being a calming presence and a source of hope in their lives. Below, is an action plan for you to follow:
Daily Prayer for Peace: Each morning this week, spend a few minutes in prayer, asking God to fill you with His peace. Present your worries to Him and allow His peace to guard your heart.
Create a Space for Peace: Find a way to create a peaceful moment each day. This could be through journaling, meditation, or simply sitting quietly with God. Let these moments of stillness remind you that peace is available, even in the busyness.
Be a Peacemaker: Is there someone in your life you need to reconcile with? Maybe a friend or family member you’ve had conflict with, or someone you need to forgive. This week, take one step toward making peace with that person, whether it’s through a conversation, a kind gesture, or a simple message of reconciliation.
Guided Prayer:
May the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds. May you walk in the assurance of His love, trusting in His promises. Go now in the strength of His peace to be a light in the world. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Thank You:
"Thank you for joining us today! Don’t forget to share this service with someone who might need encouragement, and we’ll see you next week as we continue our series. Have a blessed week!"
